Pay What you Can Fundraiser
You, as an audience member will be able to participate in the behind the scenes goings on of the making of a musical. You will learn where the show has come from, where it is now and it's journey to the New York Musical Theatre Festival 2008.
This is a one of a kind event for London and completely reveals the creative process a writer and creative team go through to develop a show from a one time Best of London Fringe Production to a world class New York ready show. Most Musical theatre shows take 5 or more years to reach stage readiness and with P&J you will be exposed to it right near the end of its development process. The writer will go in depth into why certain songs were cut (songs will be shown and you can decide whether the writers reasons were valid or not), plot elements were changed, and dialog was streamlined. You will witness first hand the craftsmanship and expertise that go into creating a new piece of musical theatre.
Another integral part of taking a show to New York is funding. You will have a chance to be a part of contributing to a musical going to Broadway. The event is a pay what you can sort, so you decide how much you wish to contribute. If you are one of those who have always wanted to be a part of the creation of a successful London, Ontario show in New York, you now can. We greatly appreciate the support of anyone who shares the dream to see a London written musical on the star studded stages of New York.
Karen Coughlin is in the current Grand Theatre production of 'Anne of Green Gables' and starred last year as Belle in the Grand theatres' 'Beauty and the Beast'. Jim Doucette is a London actor who has been in many Grand Theatre productions. Rick Kish is the former artistic director of the Bluewater Summer Playhouse. Marcia Tratt is currently in 'Anne of Green Gables' at the Grand Theatre as well as playing the wardrobe in the Grands' 'Beauty and the Beast' last year. Joshua Richardson is a London Music Theatre writer who has debuted 3 original musicals here in London ON. Andrew Petrasiunas is the Music Director at the Grand Theatre.
