New York Musical Theatre Festival |
|
The next big milestone for P&J is to be showcased in the New York Musical Theatre Festival next September.
The New York Musical Theatre Festival hailed by some of the sundance for musical theatre. It's the largest musical theatre event in the world which makes it the perfect next step for P&J. The cost of producing a show on broadway is huge. In 1983 (24 years ago for those counting) it cost 4 million dollars to put on Cats. The cost today is estimated to be between 11-14 million to produce a show.
Basically it means that we just can't do that right now as I'm not sure I even know anyone will 10 million dollars. That's where the New York Musical Theatre festival comes in. They offer an environment for new shows to be seen and a focused group of creative people who want to be involved in bringing those shows to life.
Of course it doesn't mean that it doesn't cost anything to put on a show. To goal of this website and the coming events will be to raise $20,000 (which is miniscule compared with $10 million) to take P&J: The Sandwich Musical to New York. This money will go to pay for the actors (who still need to eat), production staff (who need clothes) and all the expenses that go along with taking a show to New York.
